Oval Gear Dosing Flow Meter for Small Additive Lines

For very low flow rates from 0.1 to 120 L/h, an oval gear flow meter is often better than a Coriolis meter on price. Defoamers, dyes, and lubricants are common examples. Viscosity is important. High viscosity can actually improve accuracy in an oval gear meter.

A paint manufacturer in Thailand had an additive line running at 6 cP. The operator needed a dosing flow meter with accuracy of ±0.5 percent of reading. A typical high speed loop needs a valve with a rangeability of at least 25 to 1. The flow meter should have a rangeability of 100 to 1 or better.
